A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force in Nyaung Hla Gyi Township has confirmed that three military council soldiers were severely injured when resistance forces attacked their position near a gas pipeline in Mandalay Region’s Nyaung Hla Gyi Township. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on April 24, at a location east of Thanzin village where military council troops had established a position near a gas pipeline.
During the attack, resistance forces employed five 80mm heavy weapons and one mortar in their offensive. One of the artillery shells directly hit and exploded on the building where military council troops were stationed, resulting in severe injuries to three soldiers. While the military council claims their presence is to protect the gas pipeline infrastructure, local residents report that the troops have actually been intimidating and persecuting civilians in the area.
A representative from the Nyaung Hla Gyi Township People’s Defense Force has warned local residents to be particularly vigilant against military council airstrikes and artillery attacks. The spokesperson emphasized that the military council deliberately targets civilian areas with airstrikes and heavy weapons, making it crucial for civilians to remain cautious in their daily activities. Special attention was drawn to the ongoing threat of air attacks, with residents urged to maintain heightened awareness of potential aerial dangers.
