The military council is planning to distribute unlicensed vehicles seized from civilians to their subordinate organizations. According to military council sources, particularly in the Bago Region, confiscated unlicensed motorcycles are being redistributed to the military, police force, Pyu Saw Htee militia, people’s militia, and public security forces. This redistribution process began following the directive of military council leader Min Aung Hlaing on June 1st, which initiated a nationwide crackdown on unlicensed vehicles.
In Bago Region, a significant number of unlicensed motorcycles have been confiscated. After court proceedings are completed for these seized motorcycles, they are transferred to respective township military commanders, who then redistribute them to local security forces under military control. This systematic redistribution demonstrates how the military council is utilizing seized civilian property for their own purposes and to strengthen their control mechanisms at the local level.
Regarding unlicensed cars, these will be declared state property and managed by the Central Equipment Statistics and Inspection Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance. These vehicles will subsequently be distributed among military council ministries, organizations, and training schools. This process is being conducted under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, following what the military council describes as their standard operating procedure. The military council claims this action is necessary due to alleged tax revenue losses and security concerns, though this directly impacts civilians who have had their vehicles confiscated without proper compensation or legal recourse.
