On July 31 in Naypyidaw, it was revealed that military council leader Min Aung Hlaing has ordered substantial bonuses and political pensions for former council members, ministers, and deputy ministers who are not included in the newly reorganized interim government and security and peace commission. Military sources in Naypyidaw have confirmed these orders for financial rewards and pensions.
Former council members including Wanna Maung Lwin, Dr. Myo Thein, Daw Dwe Bu, Paw Ray Aung Thein, Man Nyein Maung, Dr. Ba Shwe, and Khun San Lwin are currently still residing in Naypyidaw. According to sources, if these former members are not reassigned to any positions in upcoming announcements, they will receive lump-sum bonus payments along with lifetime political pensions. Some may be reappointed as advisors, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Similarly, former Finance Minister Win Shein and other ministers and deputy ministers who were removed from their positions and not included in the new government will also receive substantial bonuses and political pensions. At a ceremony on July 30, Min Aung Hlaing expressed gratitude to those who had stood with him throughout the past four and a half years, promising to reward them with attractive compensation packages and pensions. Military sources explained this as Min Aung Hlaing’s way of showing appreciation for their loyalty during his tenure. On July 31, Min Aung Hlaing, acting as interim president, issued consecutive orders forming the new government and security commission, while also announcing plans for future elections.
