The village administrator of Thanyinkone village in Htakebo Township, Bago Region, was killed in retaliatory fire after attacking revolutionary forces with a hand grenade. The incident occurred on the evening of June 1st when Administrator Aung Moe Khaing, who was leaving from Infantry Battalion 6 based in Teimyit village, attacked members of the Underground Guerrilla Force Unit 4, Battalion 3802 of Thayarwady District with a hand grenade on the road between Chaungkwa(K) village and Thet-Hnyar-Lein village.
The revolutionary forces managed to take cover in time and returned fire, hitting Administrator Aung Moe Khaing with three bullets to the head, killing him instantly. The forces also seized one hand grenade from him. The deceased administrator was a former military serviceman and had been serving as a key supporter of the military council. He was known to be operating from Infantry Battalion 6, where he gathered intelligence on revolutionary force movements, extorted money from local civilians under the guise of military service fees, forcibly recruited young people as porters for military council troops, and acted as a guide during military operations in the Yoma region.
Aung Moe Khaing had been actively supporting military council operations while based at Infantry Battalion 6. His activities included surveillance of revolutionary force movements, threatening and collecting money from local residents under the pretense of military service fees, forcing young people to serve as porters alongside military council troops, and guiding military columns through the Yoma region. His brother, village chief Joseph, had also been killed by revolutionary forces approximately two years ago. Despite this, Aung Moe Khaing continued his activities supporting the military council and oppressing local civilians.
The Underground Guerrilla Force Unit 4, Battalion 3802 of Thayarwady District has announced that they will continue to target not only military council troops but also their supporters who oppress civilians and revolutionary forces. They have warned civilians to completely avoid close contact or association with these individuals to prevent civilian casualties. This warning is specifically intended to protect innocent civilians from getting caught in the crossfire during their operations against military council forces and their collaborators.
