On March 11, military council leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) should discuss what is possible and appropriate rather than expressing their desires. However, the Karen National Union (KNU) responded by stating that the military council, as an illegal fascist organization, has no right to speak about ethnic affairs. The military council continues to commit violence against civilians, forcibly recruit people for military service, and oppress the population.
