The People’s Defense Force has confirmed that at least 8 military council soldiers, including a captain, were killed when resistance forces engaged with military council troops who had entered revolutionary-controlled territory in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. Saw Doe Hshin, Information and Communication Officer of the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2, verified these casualties following the clash.
On September 2, over 100 military council troops, comprising soldiers from Infantry Battalion 60 based in Kyaukkyi and Pyu Saw Htee militia members, entered PDF-controlled territory in the Sittaung River valley area. When the joint People’s Defense Forces confronted this intrusion, the resulting battle led to the death of at least 8 military council troops, including an officer of captain rank, with many others sustaining injuries. The resistance forces successfully captured military equipment including 7 small arms, 1 RPG launcher, ammunition, and various military supplies from the defeated military council forces.
Following significant losses, the military council troops retreated to Kyaukkyi town. The successful defensive operation was carried out through coordination between multiple resistance groups, including Strategy 24, Naga Ni Battalion, Battalion 3502 of PDF Operation Area 2 Bago Division Command, and KNLA Battalion 8. This engagement demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in defending their controlled territories against military council incursions, while highlighting the continued losses suffered by military council forces in their attempts to reassert control over areas held by revolutionary forces.
