According to statements from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 25 members of the military council forces were killed in various engagements across Myanmar on May 2. The casualties were reported following clashes between resistance forces and military council troops in different regions of the country. The People’s Defense Forces and revolutionary alliance groups have confirmed these casualties following direct confrontations with military council forces. However, it should be noted that these casualty figures are compiled from statements and reports issued by local defense forces, and the actual numbers could not be independently verified on the ground.
The military council continues to commit acts of violence against civilians while forcing local residents into military service, compelling them to attend military training, and using them in operations against People’s Defense Forces. As a result, the People’s Defense Forces are engaged in defensive operations against military council offensives. These military operations have forced many local residents to flee their homes, creating a significant humanitarian crisis with increasing needs for assistance. The ongoing conflict has severely impacted civilian populations, who continue to face displacement and hardship due to the military council’s actions.
