Military council spokesperson Zaw Min Tun stated that there is no reason for concern regarding the ongoing prosecutions of military leaders at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other international courts. Local residents have reported that Sett Aung Phyo, the administrator of Shwe Min Wun ward in Sagaing city, and Htun Htun Oo, the administrator of Letpanseik village in Myittha township, have been selling relief supplies and rice bags intended for earthquake victims instead of distributing them to affected civilians. These actions have placed additional burdens on people already suffering from earthquake damage. The misappropriation of aid materials has significantly impacted communities struggling to recover from the natural disaster.
While people are facing severe hardships due to earthquake damage, the military council continues to pressure young people to join military service through various coercive methods. During this period of increased pressure on civilians, an attack involving three hand grenades was reported at Tamwe Township Police Station in Yangon. This incident reflects growing public discontent with the military council’s oppressive actions. The combination of natural disaster recovery challenges and forced military recruitment has created additional stress for communities already dealing with significant hardships.
