A spokesperson from the Duraka Column has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed and weapons were seized during an ambush when soldiers stationed at Dawei Technology University in Tanintharyi Region went out shopping. The incident occurred around 8 AM on March 18 near the military checkpoint at Phaya Mae, where resistance forces ambushed military council troops during their routine shopping trip from their base inside the Dawei Technology University campus. The attack was led by the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA)’s Duraka Column in collaboration with the Yebyu People’s Defense Force (YPPDF).
During the engagement, three military council soldiers were killed, and the resistance forces captured two BA-63 (G3) rifles, one BA-64 (G4) rifle, and related military equipment. Dawei Technology University has been serving as a key military outpost for the council forces and has been utilized as a strategic location for military operations in the region. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the Tanintharyi Region, where revolutionary activities have been intensifying against military council control.
A representative from the Duraka Column has urged local civilians to exercise extreme caution in their daily activities, given the escalating military operations across the country. Additionally, as the momentum of the revolution continues to build, they have extended an invitation to military council soldiers and police force members who wish to side with the people to defect and join the public’s cause as soon as possible. Resistance forces have assessed that their military operations within the Tanintharyi Region have been gaining strength, while the military council’s control has been gradually diminishing. The attack on the university outpost represents another significant blow to the military council’s presence in the area, as revolutionary forces continue to challenge their authority and operational capabilities throughout the region.
