Four military council soldiers, including an officer, were wounded in a drone strike on their camp at the Kyauk Tine sub-township hospital located along the Pathein-Monywa highway in Mindon Township, Tharrawaddy District, Magway Region. The attack was confirmed by Ko Myat, the information officer of Battalion 4 in Tharrawaddy District. The incident occurred on July 11 at 1:22 PM, where approximately 35 military council troops had been stationed at the hospital.
The attack involved two phases of drone strikes, with two 60mm handmade bombs dropped in the initial strike, followed by two more bombs at 1:50 PM. All four bombs accurately hit their targets within the compound, resulting in injuries to at least five military personnel, including an officer. The troops stationed at the hospital were identified as members of Tharrawaddy PSC-12, led by an officer of Major rank. The military council forces had been occupying the hospital since August 2023, constructing communication trenches and bunkers within the facility.
The military council forces had established a strong presence at the hospital, building fortified communications trenches and bunkers instead of staying at the nearby Kyauk Tine police station located north of the hospital. They have also been preventing local civilians from accessing medical treatment at the facility. The occupation has effectively transformed a civilian medical facility into a military stronghold, demonstrating the military council’s disregard for civilian infrastructure and healthcare needs.
The operation was carried out through a joint effort between the drone unit of Battalion 4 led by Company-1 commander from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) Tharrawaddy District Military Command, and the Mindon Township PDF. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The revolutionary forces have issued warnings to local civilians to remain vigilant, as the military council typically responds to such attacks with indiscriminate artillery fire and increased checkpoints targeting civilian travelers. The military’s pattern of occupying civilian facilities and responding to attacks with disproportionate force continues to pose significant risks to local communities in the area.
