According to revolutionary sources, two members of the military council were killed in an attack that occurred around 9 AM on June 9 at Mawsizar Pagoda Hill in Hpakant Township, Kachin State. The incident took place when three military council soldiers who were stationed at Mawsizar Pagoda visited the Ngwe Thitsar tea shop in Mawsizar village for breakfast. Revolutionary forces conducted an attack while the soldiers were at the shop, resulting in the immediate death of two military council members.
The military forces stationed at Mawsizar Pagoda Hill are part of a larger military column that entered Hpakant Township in late May through the Nang Ya-Kamain route with approximately 600 troops. During their advance into the area, this military column was responsible for killing 19 civilians and injuring more than 20 others along their route. Currently, intense fighting continues around the mining areas in Hpakant Township, with both sides engaging in artillery exchanges between military council forces and combined KIA-PDF forces.
According to revolutionary sources, Mawsizar Pagoda Hill is a strategically important location that the military council has been using as a base for their operations in the region. The military situation in the area remains tense, with expectations of increased confrontations between the opposing forces. Local civilians face significant challenges in seeking safety from the conflict, and there are growing concerns about deteriorating security conditions in the region. The ongoing military activities have created a humanitarian crisis for local residents, who are caught between the escalating conflicts while trying to maintain their daily lives under increasingly dangerous circumstances.
