A spokesperson from the BRAVE HEART ARMY-BHA has confirmed that an attack on military council soldiers traveling in a civilian vehicle on the Monywa-Mandalay road in Sagaing Region’s Monywa Township resulted in the death of three soldiers, including a captain, while one was injured and another escaped. The incident occurred around 11:27 PM on June 16, when revolutionary forces intercepted a civilian vehicle departing from the Chaung-U Township General Administration Office near Tawpupyusawthi village.
During the attack, resistance forces seized multiple weapons from the military council soldiers, including five firearms comprising MA1, Paris, MA5, 9mm, and Sig Batter type weapons, along with three mobile phones. The civilian vehicle used by the soldiers was also destroyed by fire. According to the unit’s spokesperson, the attack was planned based on intelligence that indicated regular nightly movements between Chaung-U and Monywa cities. The operation was specifically targeted at these routine military movements.
Although there was an exchange of gunfire during the encounter, the darkness of night made it difficult to locate all those who had sustained gunshot wounds. One military council soldier was reportedly taken to the hospital with injuries. The BRAVE HEART ARMY-BHA forces confirmed that they were able to withdraw successfully from the operation without sustaining any casualties. The resistance group has also appealed to the public for support in providing ammunition for continued operations against military council forces, stating that they require additional resources to maintain their resistance efforts.
