A new recruit from Infantry Battalion 422 based in Mobye town, Karenni State, has defected to the people’s side with an MA-1 rifle on March 23rd, according to an official from the Mobye People’s Defense Force. The soldier, who was originally forced into service as a porter by the military council forces, decided to escape and defect due to the unbearable mistreatment within the military. He surrendered to the Hawk Division of Mobye People’s Defense Force Unit 1001.
Intense fighting continues in the Mobye region, with significant casualties reported on the military council’s side. The resistance forces are calling for public support to assist the Mobye People’s Defense Force due to urgent military needs in the area. The resistance forces have announced that they will provide monetary rewards for future defectors and arrange for their safe transfer to secure holding facilities. Officials have confirmed that the Mobye People’s Defense Force continues to welcome defectors from the military council forces and guarantees their safety and future well-being.
Despite ongoing offensive operations by military council forces in the Mobye area, the People’s Defense Forces continue to maintain their resistance with support from local civilians. The resistance movement remains active in the region, sustained by local community support and the determination of defense force members. The recent defection represents a continuing trend of military personnel choosing to abandon the military council’s forces, often bringing weapons and valuable intelligence with them to the resistance side.
