According to local revolutionary sources, the terrorist military council is preparing to launch an offensive to regain control of the Asia Highway section in Myawaddy, Karen State, by arming DKBA groups led by Colonel Bi and Colonel Dar Win. On August 9, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was delivered through Division 22 in Hpa-an to DKBA groups, with instructions to prepare for an offensive operation along the Myawaddy Asia Highway section. Intelligence from revolutionary forces indicates that the military council is mobilizing significant resources for this operation.
Additionally, the terrorist military council is deploying approximately 1,000 troops along with drone units, rocket artillery units, and heavy weapons to reinforce their positions from the villages of Nabu, Myapating, Yinkwetaung, and Yelaykun, which are currently under the control of Border Guard Force (BGF) and KNLA Peace Council, towards the Kawkareik area. The KNLA and allied forces are preparing to defend against these military council columns, with intense fighting expected. Intelligence reports suggest that around August 15, the military council plans to launch a coordinated assault using aircraft, drones, and heavy artillery in a ground offensive operation.
Along the Kyondoe-Kawkareik road section, the terrorist military council is conducting daily attacks using heavy weapons and drones on villages, claiming to prevent KNLA and PDF forces from approaching settlements. Military troops are also reportedly looting civilian homes along these routes. Fighting has broken out near Kawkareik’s Kaungmuu village, with the military council continuously firing heavy artillery. The KNLA forces have stated they are ready to engage in combat, noting that the outcome of the military’s advance will only be determined through actual confrontation. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for what could be a significant escalation in fighting across the region.
