A military council security outpost located at the Khon Zu village junction on the old Nat Yay Kan road in Ngape Township, Magway Region, was attacked by resistance forces, resulting in one military council soldier killed, one captured alive, and five weapons seized, according to Salai Ro Chin, an official from the Chin Defense Force (CDF-Asho). The attack took place around 7:25 AM on June 20th, targeting the security outpost of the Nat Yay Kan Air Defense Base (Strategy Hill) stationed at the Khon Zu village junction.
The battle lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which many military council soldiers fled from the outpost. In the engagement, one military council soldier was killed instantly, one was captured alive, and many others were wounded. One CDF-Asho member sustained non-life-threatening injuries. During the battle, resistance forces seized five MA-type small arms, one BA-100 mortar, and numerous rounds of ammunition from the military council troops. The operation was jointly carried out by the Chin Defense Force (CDF-Asho), New Society Army (NSA), and Asho Chin Defense Force (ACDF).
Additionally, during interdiction operations on the old Nat Yay Kan road, resistance forces captured 14 military council soldiers who were fleeing from the Nat Yay Kan Strategy Hill between June 12 and June 14. In these operations, they seized three MA-1 rifles, one MA-3 rifle, and some ammunition. The CDF-Asho official urged military council soldiers to surrender and join the resistance movement rather than continue fighting and facing potential capture or death, emphasizing that their safety and freedom from the military council’s control could be secured through defection.
