According to Karen military sources, the military council is offering incentives to the DKBA Bo Bi group to assist in fighting for control of the Kyun Doe-Kawkareik road section in Kawkareik Township, Karen State. The road section is currently under the control of Karen revolutionary forces, and the military council is attempting to regain control. The council has promised administrative authority and tax collection rights to the DKBA Bo Bi group if they successfully capture and secure the road section.
On July 10th morning, military council troops from the 545th Battalion in Kyun Doe and forces from Gyaing Bridge began their offensive with over 40 artillery rounds, followed by ground operations. Currently, approximately 100 DKBA Bo Bi group soldiers are stationed at Gyaing Bridge and LIB 545 base in Kyun Doe, with the military council providing artillery support for their operations during the rainy season. This has led to tensions between front-line officers and NCOs and the commanders at the Kyun Doe strategic command due to the challenging conditions of conducting operations during the monsoon season.
In the battle at Tone Ta Pin village on July 10th, both DKBA and military council forces suffered numerous casualties, with more than 10 wounded soldiers being transported to Taung Kalay hospital. The intensity of the fighting eventually forced both the military and DKBA forces to retreat. The military council continues its attempts to control the Kyun Doe-Kawkareik road section with constant artillery fire while using the DKBA group as front-line forces in their ongoing military operations, according to local sources.
