
On July 7, the residence of Military Council member Daw Dwe Bu in Myitkyina was targeted in a hand grenade attack, according to local residents. The incident occurred around 3 PM in the afternoon at her house located on Naung Ra Street in Si Ta Pu Ward, Myitkyina. The hand grenade exploded near a pine tree within the compound, but no injuries were reported among Daw Dwe Bu’s family members and relatives who were residing in the house at the time of the attack.
According to local sources, Daw Dwe Bu’s children and daughters-in-law were present in the house at the time of the incident. Following the attack, military council forces were heavily deployed around the property for security purposes. Daw Dwe Bu was appointed as a member of the military council by coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in February 2023.
Daw Dwe Bu previously served as a leader of the Unity and Democracy Party of Kachin State (Manaw Thein Party) and was elected as a People’s Parliament representative for Injangyang Township in the 2010 general election. She currently serves as a member of the military council and is actively involved in the administrative machinery of the regime that seized power through a coup.
