
Military council leader Min Aung Hlaing, who arrived in Minbu city of Magway Region, described his birthplace Minbu as a historically significant city that has produced many notable figures and preserved important cultural heritage. He made these remarks during a meeting with non-CDM staff and business owners in the city. The military council leader emphasized Minbu’s historical importance and cultural significance during his address to the gathering.
Min Aung Hlaing highlighted that Minbu is a city with rich historical traditions and has been home to many distinguished individuals and cultural heritage sites. He specifically mentioned Sayadaw U Obhasa, a renowned scholar from the Minbu region who wrote prose versions of eight of the Ten Great Jataka Tales to serve as examples for future generations. He also noted that U Ohn Maung, one of the nine martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Myanmar’s independence struggle, was also a native of Minbu city.
The military council leader Min Aung Hlaing was born in Minbu city, Magway Region, on July 3, 1956, to his father, artist U Khin Hlaing, and mother, Daw Hla Mu. Minbu is both his birthplace and hometown. During his visit, he promised to establish Polytechnic schools to advance education in the Minbu region and pledged to implement various development projects for the area’s progress.
