The military council conducted airstrikes on educational and religious buildings in Sintguu Town, Mandalay Region. According to Ko Than Mani, the information officer of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Sintguu Township, the attacks occurred on April 27 at approximately 10:28 AM, targeting areas east of the high school and north of the Maha Weyanbhon Monastery. The military aircraft carried out two separate bombing runs, causing damage to the structures but fortunately resulting in no civilian casualties.
The attacks specifically targeted the eastern side of the high school with one strike and the northern area of the Maha Weyanbhon Monastery with another. While the bombardment caused significant damage to the buildings, local sources confirmed that no civilians were injured in the attacks. Local residents believe these attacks are part of the military council’s strategy to demoralize the population and discourage participation in resistance activities. The targeting of educational and religious institutions has caused considerable concern among the local community.
The PDF information officer emphasized that these attacks represent the military council’s attempts to intimidate civilians and weaken support for the revolution through fear tactics. He urged the public to maintain their focus on the revolutionary cause and continue their participation in resistance efforts despite such intimidation attempts. The deliberate targeting of educational facilities and religious buildings by the military council has created an atmosphere of anxiety and concern among local residents, who view these actions as part of a broader campaign of terror against civilian infrastructure and institutions.
