Reports from local residents and revolutionary forces indicate ongoing aerial attacks by the military council in the Kyauk Htu area of Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. On May 9, a Y12 aircraft from the military council’s Tataoo Air Base conducted bombing raids over villages in the Kyauk Htu area from 6:20 AM to 6:30 AM. According to a representative from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization, the aircraft dropped at least 12 bombs during the ten-minute attack.
Despite the military council’s announcement of a nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, they continue to conduct daily aerial attacks, artillery shelling, military column operations, and drone strikes, according to revolutionary forces. The military council particularly targets civilian areas and villages where there is no active fighting. These attacks demonstrate the ongoing pattern of violence against civilian populations, even during declared ceasefire periods.
Ko Ba Kaung from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization stated that while they are still investigating the extent of damage caused by the aerial attacks, civilians must remain extremely vigilant due to the military council’s daily bombing campaigns. Revolutionary organizations have advised the public to follow air raid defense procedures and construct bomb shelters at every household. These precautionary measures have become necessary for survival as the military council continues its campaign of violence against civilian populations, disregarding its own announced ceasefire and targeting areas with no military presence.
