Reports from local residents and revolutionary forces indicate ongoing aerial attacks by the military council in the Kyauk Htu area of Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region. On May 9, a Y12 aircraft from the military council’s Tataoo Air Base conducted bombing raids over villages in the Kyauk Htu area from 6:20 AM to 6:30 AM. According to a representative from the Yaw Alinn Tan organization, the attack involved dropping at least 12 bombs during the ten-minute assault.
The military council has been deliberately targeting civilian villages with aerial bombardments despite the absence of any active fighting or military operations in the area. Due to these daily air strikes, revolutionary organizations have strongly urged local residents to follow air raid defense procedures and construct bomb shelters at every household. Local civilians are living in constant fear due to these aerial attacks, which have severely disrupted their daily lives and normal activities.
Although the military council announced a temporary nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, revolutionary groups report that in reality, they continue to conduct military operations throughout the country, including troop deployments, aerial bombings, artillery strikes, and drone attacks. Local residents observe that these violations of the military council’s own ceasefire declaration clearly demonstrate their lack of respect for their commitments. The ongoing attacks have created an atmosphere of constant uncertainty and danger for civilians in the affected areas, who must remain vigilant despite the supposed ceasefire period.
