According to sources from Myanmar Oil and Chemical Enterprise, the military council has ordered a five-fold increase in ammonium nitrate production from fertilizer factories across the country to manufacture high-explosive weapons and bombs for their offensive operations against revolutionary forces. The military council is demanding increased production of ammonium nitrate, a key chemical compound used in the manufacture of bombs and ammunition, including drone bombs, aircraft bombs, cluster bombs, and artillery shells. Ammonium nitrate is primarily produced by fertilizer factories and serves as a crucial component in explosive manufacturing.
A source from Myanmar Oil and Chemical Enterprise revealed that all fertilizer factories nationwide have been ordered to increase their ammonium nitrate production by five times the normal rate, with direct delivery mandated to military weapons production facilities. This increased production is directly linked to the military council’s expanded manufacturing of bombs and artillery shells. Additionally, the No. 3 Fertilizer Factory (Kyawswa), which had been suspended since 2010 due to natural gas shortages, has been reactivated by the military council. Since August 2023, this facility has been producing increased amounts of ammonium nitrate raw materials for the manufacture of bombs and high-explosive artillery shells.
Currently, the military council is operating multiple fertilizer factories at full capacity to produce ammonium nitrate for high-explosive bombs and artillery shells. These facilities include Fertilizer Factory No. 1 (Sale), Fertilizer Factory No. 2 (Kyunchaung), Fertilizer Factory No. 3 (Kyawswa), Fertilizer Factory No. 4 (Myaungdaga), and Fertilizer Factory No. 5 (Kangyidaunt). This significant increase in ammonium nitrate production clearly demonstrates the military council’s intention to expand their weapons manufacturing capabilities for the suppression of revolutionary forces throughout the country. The systematic increase in production across all facilities indicates a coordinated effort to boost the military’s arsenal of explosive weapons and ammunition.
