According to information from Myanmar Petrochemical Enterprise, the military council has ordered a five-fold increase in ammonium nitrate production from fertilizer factories across the country to manufacture high-explosive weapons and bombs for offensive operations against revolutionary forces nationwide. The military council is demanding increased production of ammonium nitrate, a key component in manufacturing drone bombs, aircraft bombs, cluster bombs, and artillery shells. Ammonium nitrate is a crucial chemical compound in explosive manufacturing that can primarily be produced by fertilizer factories.
A source from Myanmar Petrochemical Enterprise stated that all fertilizer factories nationwide have been ordered to increase ammonium nitrate production by five times their normal output, with all produced materials being sent directly to military weapons manufacturing facilities. The military council has also revived Fertilizer Factory No. 3 (Kyawswa), which had been shut down since 2010 due to natural gas shortages. Since August 2023, this factory has been producing increased amounts of ammonium nitrate raw materials for manufacturing bombs and high-explosive artillery shells.
Currently, the military council is operating Fertilizer Factory No. 1 (Sale), Fertilizer Factory No. 2 (Kyunchaung), Fertilizer Factory No. 3 (Kyawswa), Fertilizer Factory No. 4 (Myaungdaga), and Fertilizer Factory No. 5 (Kangyidaunt) at full capacity to increase ammonium nitrate production for manufacturing high-explosive bombs and artillery shells. This increase in ammonium nitrate production appears to be part of preparations for intensifying military operations against revolutionary forces throughout the country.
