According to information from Myanmar Oil and Chemical Enterprise, the military council has ordered a five-fold increase in ammonium nitrate production from fertilizer factories across the country to manufacture high-explosive weapons and bombs for their offensive operations against revolutionary forces nationwide. The military council has mandated this significant increase in ammonium nitrate production, which is a crucial component in manufacturing drone bombs, aircraft bombs, cluster bombs, and artillery shells.
Ammonium nitrate is a key chemical compound used in the production of explosives and is primarily manufactured in fertilizer plants. The military council has ordered these chemical compounds to be directly delivered to military weapons manufacturing facilities. Additionally, the No. 3 Fertilizer Factory (Kyawswa), which had been suspended since 2010 due to natural gas shortages, has been reactivated. Since August 2023, this facility has been producing increased amounts of ammonium nitrate raw materials for the manufacture of bombs and high-explosive artillery shells.
Currently, the military council is operating multiple fertilizer factories at full capacity to produce high-explosive bombs and artillery shells. These facilities include Fertilizer Factory No. 1 (Sale), Fertilizer Factory No. 2 (Kyunchaung), Fertilizer Factory No. 3 (Kyawswa), Fertilizer Factory No. 4 (Myaungdaga), and Fertilizer Factory No. 5 (Kangyidaunt). Through these operations, the military council is escalating its weapons production capabilities in its campaign to suppress the people’s revolutionary forces.
