According to military sources in Naypyidaw, the military council leader Min Aung Hlaing has been conducting consecutive military meetings at the Naypyidaw War Office to discuss operations for recapturing lost cities, territorial control, offensive operations, and air strikes ahead of their planned election. Following his return from Russia, he began holding meetings with his subordinate generals and commanders regarding military operations starting from May 12. These meetings have focused on various aspects of military operations, including logistics, ammunition, and other military sectors.
On May 15 and 16, regional military commanders were summoned to Naypyidaw, where discussions primarily centered on territorial control issues. Military sources from Naypyidaw indicated that these meetings covered comprehensive military sectors including warfare, logistics, and ammunition supplies. There are also indications that some changes in operational leadership positions may occur. The consecutive military meetings over the past week have reportedly included the development of operational plans and discussions across multiple military sectors.
During his Russia trip, Min Aung Hlaing met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who reportedly pledged support for Myanmar’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and stability measures. Following this commitment, Min Aung Hlaing has shown increased enthusiasm in conducting military meetings in Naypyidaw. The military council is attempting to reclaim territories controlled by People’s Defense Forces and Ethnic Armed Organizations. These intensified military discussions and planning sessions reflect the council’s determination to strengthen their control over contested areas before their proposed election, despite ongoing resistance from various opposition forces across the country.
