The People’s Defense Force has conducted mine attacks against military council troops and vehicles in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region. According to a responsible official from the People’s Defense Force – South Monywa, their forces attacked military council troops departing from the Natteikan military outpost in Chaung-U Township on March 15 evening using multiple Padamya mines. Additionally, on March 16 morning, resistance forces launched another mine attack on seven armored military vehicles traveling between Natteikan and Yeipinsar using two Padamya mines as the vehicles were leaving Monywa city.
While the exact number of military council casualties from these attacks could not be confirmed, resistance fighters were able to safely withdraw from the area without any injuries. Although military council troops from Kyinpun and Gwepinhtaw outposts responded with heavy weapons and small arms fire, no resistance members were harmed. Similarly, in Ye-U town of Sagaing Region, resistance forces attacked three military vehicles conducting patrol operations, resulting in three soldiers killed and six others seriously wounded, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force Ye-U Township.
In the attack that occurred in Bogyoke Aung Zeya ward of Ye-U town, one of three vehicles carrying approximately thirty military council troops managed to escape while the other two vehicles were disabled and rendered inoperable. In retaliation for the attack, injured military council troops stationed at the Traditional Medicine Hospital fired heavy weapons toward the western part of Ye-U town, though no civilians were reported injured. Despite the military council troops responding with small arms fire during the attack, resistance forces were able to successfully withdraw from the area without any casualties, according to responsible officials.
