Eight members of the military council forces were killed and one military vehicle plunged into a ravine during attacks on police stations and military vehicles along the Yangon-Mandalay highway, according to Commander Tin Oo from the People’s Defense Force’s Southern Command, Operation Area 2. The incidents occurred when revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on Min Ye Police Station at mile marker 127 and Nat Ye Win Police Station at mile marker 124 along the Yangon-Mandalay highway at approximately 1:10 AM on March 26. During these attacks, one military council soldier was killed and four others were severely wounded, while the revolutionary forces successfully withdrew without any casualties.
The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2, Division Command (Bago), Battalion 3801, and Battalion 3701. In a separate incident on March 25 at approximately 10:20 PM, forces from the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2, Division Command (Bago), Strategy 21, Company 3, and Pyay District Battalion 3602 intercepted two military council vehicles traveling along the Pawkhaung-Oaktwin highway section between Bawda and Pawlangi villages in the Bago Region. The attack resulted in one military vehicle carrying approximately 30 personnel plunging into a ravine, causing seven military council members to lose their lives and approximately 12 others to sustain injuries.
These attacks demonstrate the increasing effectiveness of resistance operations against military council movements, with analysts noting the growing strength of revolutionary forces’ military capabilities. There has been a notable increase in attacks by revolutionary forces along highway sections under military council control. The successful operations highlight the resistance forces’ ability to conduct coordinated attacks on multiple targets while maintaining operational security and achieving their objectives with minimal casualties on their side. These incidents represent significant tactical victories for the resistance forces in their ongoing struggle against the military council’s presence along major transportation routes.
