In Paungde Township, Bago Region, resistance forces engaged with military council troops who were burning civilian homes, resulting in three military casualties, according to Shadow, the intelligence and information officer of the 3601 People’s Defense Force Battalion. On March 26, military council forces numbering over 100 personnel from the Thetpoke Tower base camp entered Letpankhan village in Thetpoke village tract and burned down 56 civilian houses in a destructive operation.
On March 27, as the military column continued their activities in the village after burning the houses, resistance fighters from Battalion 3601 launched three mine attacks, wounding three military council soldiers. The resistance forces followed up with three sniper shots, resulting in the immediate death of one military council soldier. These coordinated attacks demonstrated the resistance forces’ capability to respond to military aggression against civilian targets.
On March 28, the military council forces retreated to their Thetpoke Tower base camp after temporarily establishing a position at Nwa-thoe-tae-taik between Letpankhan and Thetpoke villages, carrying their dead and wounded personnel.
