A representative from the People’s Defense Force in Khin-U Township has confirmed that military council forces retreated following significant casualties during an interceptive attack by resistance forces in Sagaing Region’s Khin-U Township. On September 18, a military column consisting of approximately 80 personnel, including soldiers from Training Base 8 and Pyu Saw Htee militia members from the Shwebo-Butkone road section, advanced toward Magyitun Pyu Saw Htee village in Khin-U Township. During their advance, they encountered resistance forces, resulting in an armed confrontation.
Due to heavy casualties sustained by the military council forces during the battle, their column retreated to Butkone and Training Base 8 during the night. Following the battle, resistance forces conducted a clearance operation in the area, during which they seized various weapons and military equipment. The captured items included one MA-4 rifle, one MA-5 pistol, RPG rounds, hand grenades, 40mm bombs, ammunition magazines, and other military supplies. The successful operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of Shwebo District Battalion 3, Khin-U Township People’s Defense Force, local defense forces, and the Township People’s Liberation Force.
The resistance forces were able to withdraw successfully without sustaining any casualties during the engagement. According to the official from the Khin-U Township People’s Defense Force, the exact number of casualties on the military council’s side has not yet been confirmed. The operation demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their ability to effectively counter military council operations, forcing the latter to retreat despite their numerical and equipment advantages.
