
Local residents reported that the military council forces conducted a raid on Nyamasarhit village in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and the destruction of approximately 100 houses by fire. On the morning of February 27, about 60 military personnel and Pyu Saw Htee members from Ziphyukone village entered and raided Nyamasarhit village. During the raid, they captured and killed 50-year-old U Aung Soe by slitting his throat after finding him hiding in his house. They also burned to death 90-year-old Daw Nwet Kyi, who was unable to escape from her home.
The military forces systematically burned down houses throughout the village, destroying at least 100 homes. Additionally, they looted valuable possessions from the houses, transporting them away in vehicles. According to a local resident, U Aung Soe was beaten so severely that his skull was crushed during the killing, while elderly Daw Nwet Kyi, who was paralyzed, was burned alive as she could not flee from her house. The military forces thoroughly ransacked all civilian homes in the village before setting them on fire and departing with stolen valuables loaded onto their vehicles.
Currently, military operations and attacks are frequently occurring throughout the Sagaing Region, particularly in Shwebo Township and surrounding areas. The military council forces continue to carry out arrests and killings of civilians, along with the systematic destruction of villages by fire. These violent attacks have forced local residents to flee their homes and live in displacement, facing severe insecurity regarding their lives, property, and general welfare according to local sources. The pattern of military raids, civilian casualties, and destruction of property has become increasingly common in the region, creating an ongoing humanitarian crisis for the local population.
