A representative from Kawlin Info has confirmed to Yangon Modern News that the military council forces have killed seven civilians, including a child, near Amakhan village in Wuntho Township, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred around 7 AM on April 26, when the victims, who were ordinary market vendors, encountered a military patrol near Amakhan village, located approximately one mile east of Wuntho town. The area where the killings took place is under the control of military council troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia members.
According to local sources, the civilians were arrested, tortured, and killed after encountering a military patrol unit. The location of the incident is near military checkpoints, approximately two miles east of Wuntho town’s entrance. The area is heavily militarized with multiple military outposts and is controlled by the military council forces and their affiliated groups. A representative from Kawlin Info stated that the victims were ordinary vendors who were targeted by the military patrol. The authorities are currently investigating to determine the complete identities and addresses of the victims, while maintaining contact with their family members.
While military council-affiliated social media channels are spreading disinformation claiming that the People’s Defense Force (PDF) was responsible for the killings, local residents have firmly confirmed that these were acts of violence committed by military forces. The local population has condemned these brutal attacks on innocent civilians, and the international community has been called upon to take action against such atrocities. The incident represents another instance of the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilians in Myanmar, particularly in regions where resistance to military rule remains strong. Local organizations continue to document these human rights violations while working to support affected communities.
