Military council forces conducted operations in Nga Htet village, Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of one resistance fighter and six civilians, while over 40 villagers were detained, according to local resistance sources. On July 28, military forces entered areas along the border of Wetlet and Sagaing townships before advancing into Nga Htet village. As they entered the village, troops opened fire on fleeing civilians, killing a 10-year-old child and a woman who were attempting to escape to the river port area.
After entering the village, military forces gathered villagers at the local monastery and detained over 40 people. The detained villagers were interrogated, and on July 29, three men were separated from the group and executed. Additionally, when three resistance fighters from Shwemkar sub-township entered the village for clearance operations, believing the military forces had withdrawn, they encountered a military ambush. In the ensuing clash, one resistance fighter was killed while two others managed to escape. The military forces had set up hiding positions around the monastery where civilians were being held.
Currently, military council forces continue to conduct operations in the area, forcing thousands of local residents to flee to safety. Clashes between resistance forces and military troops remain frequent. Local sources report that when military forces enter villages, they typically target innocent civilians, carrying out arrests, torture, killings, and destruction of property through arson. The ongoing military operations in the region have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians attempt to escape the violence while resistance forces continue to defend local communities from military aggression.
