
Military council forces conducting operations in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, have killed 11 civilians and destroyed villages by burning, according to local sources. Beginning March 2, approximately 200 troops from the military council’s 101st Division in Pakokku and Battalions 256, 257, and 258 from Yesagyo Township entered and raided Myaysunhtaw village in the river island area of Yesagyo Township.
During their three-day raid on Myaysunhtaw village, the military council forces arrested and killed 11 civilians, including elderly residents, and burned down the entire village. Among those killed were U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), U Kyaw Htay (67 years old), U Aung Myint (69 years old), Ko Thant Zin (35 years old), Ko Aung Linn Naing (40 years old), and from Malaka Chin village, U Nyunt Way (70 years old) and U San Win (50 years old).
The military council forces looted civilian property from Myaysunhtaw village, Malaka Chin village, Ywa Thit village, Zayapni village, and Thagaung Lay village, and subsequently burned down residential homes. According to local residents, the death toll could be higher, as some bodies may have been burned and destroyed beyond recognition. On March 9, the military council forces continued their operations by entering Pannyoe village, causing residents from nearby villages to flee and seek shelter elsewhere.
