A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force Battalion 11 of Monywa District has confirmed that military council convoys and vehicles carrying soldiers were targeted in mine attacks in Chaung-U and Monywa Townships of Sagaing Region, resulting in military casualties. On March 2 at approximately 7:15 AM, resistance forces conducted their first attack using four Padamya mines against two military Dyna trucks carrying soldiers from Chaung-U town between Natteikan and Yayponsar areas. Minutes later, they launched a second attack with two Padamya mines at the same location targeting additional soldiers who had emerged from a vehicle checkpoint at Natteikan gate. While military casualties were reported from these attacks, the exact numbers could not be confirmed.
On February 27 at around 9 AM, resistance forces also successfully targeted the third vehicle in a convoy of five armored military vehicles leaving Monywa city near the Monywa toll gate, using three Padamya mines and one forward-deployed mine. These coordinated attacks were carried out through collaboration between the Pentagram LPDF, Monywa District Battalion 11, Venom Revolution Force, and Spring Youth Group. The resistance fighters managed to withdraw safely despite retaliatory fire from military personnel on the vehicles. Military council forces reportedly sustained damage and casualties, though specific numbers remain unconfirmed.
The resistance forces have warned civilians to remain vigilant as the military council continues to conduct arrests under the pretext of military recruitment. They emphasized their commitment to continuing operations until the revolution succeeds, while calling for continued public support. The attacks demonstrate the ongoing resistance against military rule in the Sagaing Region, with local defense forces maintaining their offensive capabilities despite limited resources. Resistance leaders noted that their operations are often constrained by the lack of weapons to provide cover fire after mine attacks, necessitating quick withdrawals following engagements with military forces.
