According to local sources, thousands of residents in Myittha Township, Mandalay Region, are fleeing to safety as military council forces arriving by Thankhun boats are burning and destroying villages, including Moegyoe village. On September 13, military forces that arrived by Thankhun boat in the western part of Myittha Township systematically entered Moegyoe village and began burning residents’ homes, as confirmed by an official from the Wetlet Informational Network.
Due to these brutal actions by the military forces, residents from villages along the river have been forced to abandon their homes and flee to safety, fearing for their lives. Currently, thousands of people are displaced, and the exact extent of damage from the military’s arson attacks, as well as civilian injuries and arrests, cannot yet be confirmed. After burning homes in Moegyoe village, the military forces reportedly departed by Thankhun boats toward Soneking village near the border of Wetlet and Sagaing townships.
In previous incidents on September 10 and 11, the military forces had also conducted aerial bombardments on Sharsaychauk and Seiktha villages in Myittha Township, causing damage to civilian homes despite there being no active fighting in the area. These deliberate attacks by military council forces on innocent civilians have not only disrupted daily life but have also created significant hardships for local residents, who now face severe challenges in meeting their basic needs for food, shelter, and livelihood, according to local residents.
