Local residents have reported to Yangon Modern News Agency that the military council forces are conducting military operations in Minhla Township, Bago Region, and Chauk Township, Magway Region, burning villages and looting civilian properties. On June 20 at 4 AM, military council troops numbering over 300 launched a major offensive on Taungpyat village in Htaukkyant village tract, Minhla Township. During this time, clashes occurred with revolutionary forces, resulting in casualties among resistance fighters. Additionally, five PDF members were captured alive by military council forces and brutally executed. Later that day, around 1 PM, the military completely burned down Taungpyat village.
According to military news sources from Minhla Township, the military council forces conducted their operation by dividing into multiple columns and surrounding the village from all directions to prevent escape. The military’s offensive strategy involved deploying large numbers of troops in coordinated movements to completely seal off the area. The attacks have forced local residents to flee their homes and seek refuge in safer locations. The military’s actions have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians struggle to find safe shelter away from the violence.
Simultaneously, in Chauk Township of Magway Region, the military council forces entered and burned down Htainkan village and Nyaunglapin village without any provocation or preceding conflict. Local sources confirmed that more than 20 houses were destroyed in Htainkan village alone. Residents also reported that military columns are actively looting properties in villages near Salay area. The military council’s destructive actions have caused widespread displacement as villagers are forced to abandon their homes and possessions to escape the violence. The systematic burning of villages and looting of civilian properties demonstrates a pattern of deliberate destruction targeting civilian populations in these regions.
