
The military forces operating in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, have entered Kyikyun village and are burning down residential houses, according to confirmation from activists in Kyunhla area. On August 23, in the afternoon, a military column consisting of approximately 200 troops entered Kyikyun village and systematically began burning down villagers’ homes. Due to this military raid, residents from Kyikyun village and surrounding villages have been forced to flee for their safety.
According to activists from the Kyunhla area, they are currently unable to confirm if there are any arrests or injuries among the civilians. Similarly, in Magway Region’s Chauk Township, another military column has entered Ma Kyi Kone village and is forcibly confiscating and looting properties belonging to the villagers, according to local residents. The military council troops operating in Chauk Township entered Ma Kyi Kone village on August 23 and have been conducting unauthorized seizures and looting of villagers’ possessions, as confirmed by local sources.
Due to the military’s intrusion, all residents of Ma Kyi Kone village have been forced to flee, though there have been no reported arrests at present. However, locals report that the military is systematically searching through villagers’ homes and taking valuable possessions. The military’s actions in both locations represent a continuation of their campaign of violence and intimidation against civilian populations, forcing residents to abandon their homes and properties while conducting widespread destruction and theft of civilian property.
