The People’s Defense Force (PDF) of Ye-U Township has reported that the military council forces raided and burned down a school in Thanzone village, Sagaing Region. According to the PDF spokesperson, approximately 60 military troops entered Thanzone village, west of Ye-U town, around 6:30 AM on August 21. The forces targeted a school operated under the National Unity Government, ransacking the premises and burning school furniture and equipment. The attack resulted in significant damage to both educational materials and the school building structure.
During the raid on the village, while the military forces did not make any civilian arrests, they later withdrew back to Ye-U town. However, during their withdrawal, they forcibly seized a vehicle. In a separate incident, military forces have also been reported to be burning civilian homes near Kyauk Tatar village in Myittha Township, Mandalay Region. The destruction of civilian property continues as part of the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against local communities.
On August 22, around 5 PM, military forces entered the vicinity of Kyauk Tatar village in Myittha Township and began systematically burning down residential houses. The exact number of homes destroyed in this attack has not yet been confirmed by local sources. These brutal actions by the military forces have caused widespread fear among local residents, resulting in the loss of property and forcing many to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere. The ongoing destruction of civilian infrastructure, including schools and homes, represents a continuing pattern of violence against Myanmar’s civilian population by the military council forces.
