In the evening of May 16, military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee members raided Thanhtaw village in Nattalin Township, Bago Region, and systematically burned down houses, according to local residents. The incident began around 3:30 PM when military forces suddenly entered the village and selectively targeted well-built houses for destruction. During the raid, villagers were forced to flee to nearby forests and hills fearing for their lives. The military forces entered the village without any prior warning and immediately began their destructive operations.
According to local sources, the military council troops and Pyu Saw Htee members specifically targeted better-quality houses in the village for destruction. They also reportedly looted villagers’ possessions during the raid. Currently, military forces continue to occupy Thanhtaw village, preventing residents from returning to their homes. The displaced villagers remain in hiding in safer locations, unable to return to their properties. The military’s presence in the village continues, maintaining their position while local residents seek shelter in surrounding areas, uncertain when they might be able to return to what remains of their homes.
