Seven military council soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked two military vehicles that were looting civilian properties in Kan Ma town, Pakokku District, Magway Region. According to a spokesperson from the Pakokku People’s Defense Force (PPDF), the attack occurred around 10 AM on June 26 when joint resistance forces ambushed two military vehicles that were stealing property from civilian homes within Kan Ma town. The attack resulted in seven military casualties and numerous injuries among military council forces. The resistance forces successfully carried out the operation without suffering any casualties.
The joint operation was conducted by multiple resistance groups including the Pakokku People’s Defense Force (PPDF), ABSDF Column 3, Aung Kyaw Force, Township PDF, Tiger Warrior Force (TWF), Anyar Myay Guerrilla Force, and Youth Guerrilla Force (YGF). The firefight lasted approximately 10 minutes, after which the resistance forces were able to safely withdraw from the area. The military council forces retreated toward Pauk Township following the engagement. The operation demonstrated effective coordination between various resistance groups in their effort to protect civilian properties from military looting.
Since early June, a large military column from Infantry Division 101 based in Pakokku has been advancing toward Pauk Township and has reached Kan Ma town. This military presence has forced local residents to flee their homes, leaving their properties vulnerable to destruction and looting by military forces. The military has been systematically burning abandoned homes and stealing civilian property in their wake. Resistance forces have been conducting operations to block the military column’s advance, preventing them from reaching their intended destination. In response to this resistance, the military has been carrying out airstrikes on villages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps along their route, further endangering civilian lives and property. The situation highlights the ongoing pattern of military forces targeting civilian infrastructure and conducting widespread looting operations while facing resistance from local defense forces.
