
The military council has arrested and filed charges against labor rights activist Daw Myoe Myoe Aye and 10 members of the Solidarity of Trade Union Myanmar (STUM) under Section 5(1)(f)(g) of the Restriction of Habitual Offenders Act. On July 25 at around 9:30 PM, military council forces raided Daw Myoe Myoe Aye’s residence and detained her at Auxiliary Facility 1 near Aung Thapyay Interrogation Center. Subsequently, on July 27 and 28, STUM members Thin Htet San, Su Myat Nwe, Myint Myint Khaing, Thiha, Zaw Htike, Zaw San Naing, Hay Man Oo, Kyaw Thet Naing, and John Tu Maung were also arrested and detained at the same facility.
All detainees were transferred to Aung Thapyay Interrogation Center on the morning of August 5, and in the evening, they were separately moved to Shwepyithar, North Okkalapa, and Insein townships. On August 7, they were all charged under Section 5(1)(f)(g) of the 1961 Restriction of Habitual Offenders Act at their respective township courts. Daw Myoe Myoe Aye, Thin Htet San, Su Myat Nwe, Myint Myint Khaing, Thiha, Zaw Htike, Kyaw Thet Naing, and Zaw San Naing are scheduled to appear at Shwepyithar Township Court on August 20, while John Tu Maung and Hay Man Oo will appear at North Okkalapa Township Court and Insein Township Court respectively on August 14.
