On June 10th at approximately 12:15 PM, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) successfully shot down a military council fighter jet in Pale Township, Sagaing Region. The jet was conducting bombing operations against the Kandaung Police Station battle when it was brought down. In response to this incident, the military council issued a false statement claiming that the aircraft crashed due to technical malfunction, attempting to cover up the fact that it was shot down by resistance forces.
The PLA promptly countered the military council’s false narrative by releasing photographic evidence of the downed aircraft. This incident follows a pattern of deception by the military council, which consistently attributes their aircraft losses to mechanical failures rather than acknowledging successful attacks by resistance forces. A similar situation occurred on May 20th when the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) successfully brought down two military helicopters near Banmaw City in Kachin State using suicide drones. In that instance as well, the military council falsely claimed the helicopters crashed due to technical malfunctions.
The military council consistently attempts to conceal their air force losses and downplay the military successes of ethnic armed organizations and people’s defense forces. However, revolutionary groups like the PLA continue to provide concrete evidence that exposes these falsehoods. The military council’s pattern of both committing violence against civilians and deliberately spreading misinformation has become increasingly apparent. Their attempts to manipulate public perception through false reporting demonstrate their ongoing efforts to control the narrative while continuing their campaign of oppression against the people of Myanmar.
