A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Thaung Tha Township has confirmed the capture of Corporal Aung Myoe from the military council forces during a security check at a road section in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. The arrest took place on June 17, and the corporal was identified as a serviceman stationed at the Thagara Military Heavy Industries Factory in Bago Region. During the arrest, several items were confiscated from the corporal, including a Myanmar Economic Bank passbook, national identification card, driver’s license, and a gold ring weighing one-eighth of a tical.
According to the PDF official, the corporal was traveling on leave from Bago Region to Myaing Township in Pakokku District, Magway Region, reportedly to withdraw money from his account at the Myanmar Economic Bank. He is currently being detained and interrogated to gather intelligence information. The arrest highlights the ongoing security operations conducted by resistance forces in the region and their efforts to maintain control over strategic areas outside the urban center.
The current situation in Thaung Tha Township shows that revolutionary forces maintain control over rural areas and major routes throughout the township, except for the urban center. Regular clashes continue to occur between revolutionary forces and military council troops in the area. The resistance forces have implemented strict security measures and are maintaining vigilant surveillance of suspicious activities to ensure the safety of local civilians. The successful capture of the military council corporal demonstrates the effectiveness of the security checkpoints established by the revolutionary forces and their growing capability to conduct strategic operations in the region.
