During his Myanmar New Year address to the nation, Acting President Duwa Lashi La of the National Unity Government (NUG) revealed that the terrorist military council now controls less than one-quarter of the country’s territory. He emphasized that the military council is facing its most significant losses in Myanmar’s military history, as evidenced by ground-level data and current situations across the country.
The Spring Revolution has now continued for more than four years, and the Acting President acknowledged that as the revolutionary period extends, civilian casualties and hardships have increased significantly. However, he stressed that it remains crucial to remove the military group that has been misusing public funds and waging war against its own people. He noted that since this revolution aims to permanently eliminate the military dictatorship and all authoritarian mindsets, it naturally faces numerous challenges and difficulties that must be recognized and addressed.
The Acting President particularly emphasized that 2025 is expected to be a pivotal year for the revolution, calling on all revolutionary forces to redouble their efforts to bring final victory and liberation to the people. He urged all revolutionary groups to work harder than ever to make 2025 the year that brings the light of revolutionary victory to the public. Currently, the National Unity Government and revolutionary forces have successfully taken control of nearly 100 towns across the country, demonstrating significant progress in their struggle against the military council.
