In Naypyidaw, military council leader Min Aung Hlaing has been proudly boasting during meetings about how his constructed Mara Vijaya Pagoda sustained only minor damage during the recent earthquake. However, according to military sources in Naypyidaw, he neglected the earthquake damage to the Uppatasanti Pagoda, built by former dictator Than Shwe, for nearly a month before making a superficial inspection visit.
Even as earthquake-affected regions in Sagaing Region are still recovering from the recent major earthquake, the military council has issued orders in Mandalay’s Maharaungmye Township to recruit two young people from each ward for their 13th military service batch. Ward administration members and local residents have expressed serious concerns about this forced recruitment drive, which continues despite the ongoing natural disaster recovery efforts in the region.
Additionally, in Wetlet town of Sagaing Region, revolutionary alliance forces conducted simultaneous drone attacks on multiple military council positions, including the police station, General Administration Office, fire station, and security outposts. This coordinated attack targeted key infrastructure under military council control and demonstrates the increasing operational capabilities of revolutionary forces. The attacks highlight the ongoing resistance against the military council’s presence in the region, even as they continue to impose burdens on civilian populations through forced recruitment and other oppressive measures.
