The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported on April 3 that despite the unilateral ceasefire announced by the three Northern Brotherhood Alliance groups, the military council continues to launch offensives and reinforce troops in Naung Cho Township in Northern Shan State and Kyaukse Township in Mandalay Region. According to the statement, on April 3 at 12:00 PM, the military council moved a convoy of seven military vehicles carrying reinforcement troops from Inntaw area to Kyauk Gu, Taung Che, and Amata 902 areas.
Additionally, in the Seven Mile area of Kyaukse Township, the military council conducted four airstrikes using fighter jets and dropped eight bombs, as confirmed by the TNLA. Although the military council announced a ceasefire from April 2 to April 20, declaring it as a national mourning period, they continue to carry out daily airstrikes, according to local sources. The military’s actions directly contradict their own announced ceasefire, demonstrating a clear disconnect between their public statements and actual military operations on the ground.
The three Northern Brotherhood Alliance groups had announced a one-month unilateral ceasefire on April 1, expressing sympathy for earthquake-affected civilians and acknowledging public hardships, stating they would suspend military operations in conflict areas during this period. However, the military council continues to launch offensives across the country, including in Kachin State, Sagaing Region, Magway Region, and Mandalay Region, as confirmed by ethnic armed organizations and local sources. This ongoing military activity, despite announced ceasefires from both sides, highlights the complex nature of the conflict and the military council’s continued aggressive stance against both armed resistance forces and civilian populations throughout Myanmar.
