The TNLA spokesperson Lwai Ye Oo revealed during today’s press conference that despite the military council’s ceasefire declaration, they continue military operations in Naung Cho Township, including reinforcement of troops and ongoing military tensions. While the military council announced a ceasefire in June, and the TNLA along with three Northern Alliance groups have adhered to it, the military council continues to reinforce troops through Hsipaw, resupply ammunition, launch offensives, and conduct airstrikes. Fighting occurs daily or every other day in the Taung Kham area of Naung Cho Township.
According to Lwai Ye Oo, ‘There are military advances from their side, and we are conducting defensive operations in response. Military tension remains high. We are proceeding according to our military strategy.’ The TNLA also noted that Chinese pressure remains intense, and they are seeking ways to address this pressure. Regarding the military council’s planned election, the TNLA has declined to comment, stating that they will continue to stand with the people and maintain their resistance against the military dictatorship.
The TNLA has announced that they will continue their operations against the military dictatorship while maintaining their position of supporting the public interest. Despite the Northern Alliance groups’ adherence to the ceasefire agreement, the military council’s continuous violations have disrupted regional stability and peace. The situation remains tense as the military council continues its offensive operations while simultaneously claiming to maintain a ceasefire, demonstrating the disconnect between their public statements and actual military actions in the region.
