The military council conducted aerial bombings in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on the evening of March 18, according to local residents. Around 8 PM, military aircraft dropped bombs between Watkone village and Tawya village along the Pathein-Monywa road. The bombing targeted an uninhabited area, resulting in no reported casualties or injuries, as confirmed by local sources.
Currently, there are reports being spread by military sympathizers claiming that the Arakan Army (AA) and revolutionary forces have reached villages near the Rakhine Yoma mountain range at the border of Laymyethna and Ngathayaung townships. In response to these claims, the military council has increased its military presence in the region, deploying additional troops, conducting artillery strikes, and launching aerial and drone attacks. These offensive actions have forced local residents to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere.
According to military sources in the region, the Arakan Army (AA) has been advancing and conducting consecutive offensive operations in areas of Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway regions that border Rakhine State. Fighting continues in the Yoma mountain range area, and local residents can no longer safely remain in their villages due to security concerns, according to those assisting internally displaced persons. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians are forced to evacuate to safer locations away from the conflict zones.
