The military council conducted aerial bombings in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on the evening of March 18, according to local residents. Around 8 PM, military aircraft dropped bombs between Watkone village and Tawya village along the Pathein-Monywa road. The bombing targeted an uninhabited area, resulting in no casualties or damage, as confirmed by a local resident. The attacks occurred without any clear justification, causing significant distress among the civilian population.
Currently, due to military propaganda claiming the presence of the Arakan Army (AA) and revolutionary forces in villages near the Rakhine Yoma mountain range at the border of Laymyethna and Ngathayaung townships, the military council has escalated its operations. These include increasing troop deployments, sending more reinforcements, conducting heavy artillery strikes, and launching aerial and drone attacks. As a result, local residents have been forced to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The situation has particularly intensified in areas along the Rakhine Yoma mountain range, where active fighting has made it unsafe for villagers to remain in their homes, leading to an increasing number of internally displaced persons, according to a local humanitarian aid worker from Laymyethna Township.
The Arakan Army (AA) has been conducting offensive operations and advancing their forces into Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway Regions, which share borders with Rakhine State, according to local military sources. These military movements have resulted in increased tensions and conflict in the region, with the military council responding through intensified attacks that primarily affect civilian populations. The ongoing situation has created a humanitarian crisis as more residents are forced to abandon their homes and communities due to the military council’s aggressive actions and indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas.
