In Thilin Township of Magway Region, Major Aung Kyaw Thu has been appointed to replace Major Htin Lin as the commanding officer of the military council forces. The change was implemented on July 15th in the late afternoon, with a Mi-17 support helicopter from Infantry Division 101 based in Pakokku carrying out the transfer. The helicopter landed in Thilin town after 3 PM, not only facilitating the commander replacement but also delivering military weapons, ammunition, and supplies to the stationed forces.
The previous commander, Major Htin Lin, had been serving as the highest-ranking officer in Thilin Township since April of this year. Prior to his appointment, there was no major-level commander in Thilin, with only four captains in charge of operations. After Captain Ye Hint Aung fell in battle, Major Htin Lin was transferred from Monywa Regional Operations Command via helicopter to take command. The military council currently maintains over 100 troops in Thilin town, with the highest-ranking position being at the major level.
During the commander replacement operation, the support helicopter departed with Major Htin Lin and two injured soldiers. The helicopter also delivered necessary supplies for the military council forces stationed in the area. Local sources suggest that this command change might be related to the ongoing military situation in the region. The military presence in Thilin Township continues to be significant, with the new commander, Major Aung Kyaw Thu, now taking charge of operations in the area. This change in military leadership reflects the ongoing military council’s attempts to maintain control over the region, while facing resistance from local defense forces and dealing with operational challenges in the territory.
